About Us

Backstory

Sea State Marine is an American watercraft building company.

Founded in 2010, we started building wood strip / epoxy paddle craft.

The following year, we were introduced to SUP board design and manufacturing by Steve DeKoch, the founder of Hemel SUPS of Seattle.

5th generation boards

We are now producing our 5th design generation.  The first board we produced and sold was a hybrid wood strip deck / fiberglass hull.  The following iterations of our designs moved to fully glass then with our 4th design we made the move to 100% carbon fiber/epoxy.  The current board incorporates all of the advancements in construction we have achieved.  It is also the best looking, fastest and lightest.

Design goals

Our aim with the current design was to produce a stable touring board with a target of intermediate level performance.  Race boards are typically around the 25 inch max width or narrower.  While a narrow board reduces wetted surface and can achieve higher speeds, they sacrifice stability.  At 29.5 inches, our board produces just enough stability / speed for confidence in our local water environment.
